Good job fellas at the tournament last week. Even though it is not our rules, I would consider a first place and a bunch of 2 places a fine showing. Now, if they would have let us throw in addition to ground work it might have been a straight sweep.

Working for angle
Practice has been revolving around getting deep under your opponent when standing, getting good angle on major throws. Making smooth transitions from standing into cross-body or scarf hold. Moving from scarf to reverse scarf and cross-body
-attack with penetration step and continue breaking balance throughout the throw.
-get full rotation and be able to continue to rotate if needed.
-Get your toes and knees going in the right direction which allows the hips to rotate?
-Ground work has focused on scarf hold and cross-body, make them pay keep your weight on them
cross-body
-legs out vs legs tight (out is better pin/in is more mobile)
-your center on the near side of the down man's chest, (proximal of the medial line.)
-keep your hips down
scarf hold
-get your head side leg tight in order to keep their shoulder off the ground
-drop your head into them, while pulling up with the hips, (dual action)
-when making a transition, be able to keep your weight on them
Drills
standing
-First step deep with hard pivot (focus on good placement of the first foot and no cheat steps pivoting in, just to load… throw on 5)
-Transitional drill from throw to cross body or scarf
Ground:
-Scarf to reverse scarf hip switch drill, add in cross body
-Above switch drill with submission attack on the 5th switch
